We spent the entire day at the
Air and Space Museum. Being the aviation enthusiast that I am, I was mostly like a kid in a candy store. While there were a great many fascinating exhibits, there was way too much to soak in, and we ended up picking and choosing what to see. I was especially interested in the exhibits on air transport and the Wright Brothers. Last time I was at Air and Space, there was a section on balloons and dirigibles (something I used to read about avidly when I was a kid), but there was no such section this time, something that disappointed me.
I've often told
liannegizer that I could spend an entire week only touring the
Smithsonian, and yesterday reminded me of that. By the end of the day, I had two very sore legs, and desperately wanted to sit down. Thankfully, we had a long
DC Metro ride to get back to our car.
We took
hawkeyeinmd, her husband, and their two girls out to dinner at a place called
Red, Hot, & Blue. Good 'que!!! (Admitedly, however, I'm still biased toward my hometown
Dinosaur!)
liannegizer and I wanted to make it a point to thank our hosts for putting us up this week, and this was the only night we could do it.
Our game plan for today is to hit the
American History Museum. It's really too bad that we only have a few days to spend here. Perhaps on a future trip -- when I don't have to worry about getting back home due to other commitments -- we can make plans to do more.
