First: yes, folks, I'm alive!!!
It's been a while since I've posted here, so I need to get back into some practice. Apologies in advance for anything I mess up!
So, what prompted me to write? Well,
liannegizer and I have vacation time approved for mid-July, and we're trying to figure out what to do with it.
I'm a bit inspired by (1) Frommer's
Budget Travel and the
New York Times' travel writer, Seth Kugel, a.k.a. "
The Frugal Traveler."
So, I felt compelled to blog about it!
Of course, we don't have a lot of money, but we nevertheless want to do some kind of getaway for our vacation. So, I'm poking around a bit.
My primary ground rule: lodging can NOT exceed $100 a night.
I'm toying with a few ideas, such as:
- Maryland/DC area (thanks, hawkeyeinmd!)
- Adirondacks
- Rangeley, ME (although I'm a bit put off by a six hour drive in the middle of nowhere
- New England coast
I'm doing a bit of digging to see what I can find. I've found a few things so far. We'll see how this goes.
