Soul met Rise during the first witch attack of the game, the third day after BREW began to bring people into the city. The circumstances were unfavorable, but over time they got to know each other better. Soul is pretty fond of her, thinking of her as the person he gets along with best that isn't a Death City native. At one point, she asked him to help her with transforming into a weapon, and he agreed. Eventually, she did manage to transform, and... well.
Soul continues to think that she's a nice girl, and is intent on getting involved with future pranks/escapades.
