Wow...a second post from myself...I didn't see that coming. Anyway, this post is Dave Matthews Band related, and if you don't like it, too bad. Yeah, yeah, I'm sick of people insinuating that DMB is the only music that I listen to, so please don't post anything like that for a comment, because they're definitely not all I listen to. Yes, they are my favorite band, they are incredibly talented, and I will admit I am obsessed with their music, seeing them 22 times live (it'll be 27 times after this summer), but yeah I like other stuff. So what, I see something in their music I don't really see that often in a lot of other music, but it doesn't mean I don't like or love any other type of music. My taste is very wide-ranged. I like particular kinds of rap, or at least respect certain kinds (but little haha), rock, jazz, certain kinds of country, improvisation, etc...if it's good, then it's good. I just don't like to be accused of listening to strictly dmb just because I listen to them frequently.
But anyway, DMB has a new album coming out on May 10th, entitled "STAND UP" which I can't fricken wait for. Supposedly, it's more upbeat and aggressive in comparison to their normal songwriting. The band wrote over 25 songs for the album (including songs from Summer 2004 Tour and a few written prior to the tour) and are cutting half the songs for the finished product. Their first single "American Baby," will be on the radio this Thursday, and--oh, guess what--here's a link to listen to it:
http://music.channel.aol.com/franchise/firstlisten.adp I like the song a lot, even though a lot of fans on the message boards are already fussing about it, complaining that it's too "simple" for the band and there's nothing catchy about the song (I don't know what they're talking about). But that's what all the crybaby fans say about all their first singles it seems (ex. Where Are You Going). I agree that "Joy Ride" would have been a much better single, but "American Baby" is a good song (written the day after election...hmmm wonder what it's about).
What's funny is that the band doesn't even know which songs are going to make it on the album yet, and it's due in less than two months. One of the songs "Hunger For the Great Light" is explicitly about oral sex and is described as "beautiful sounding," which I found kind of strange and somewhat humorous. But, I don't know, we'll see what makes the cut. Hopefully the new songs they played during the 2004 tour will make the cut (at least "Joy Ride" "Hello Again" and "Sugar Will," anyway).
The DMB shows I'm going to this summer include:

Looking for one or two potential people to go with us to 3 nights at the Gorge. Should be fun, kids.
