I highly dislike being a sophomore right now. While we are slaving away, waking up early enough to get to school on time, the freshmen, juniors, and seniors are off sleeping in--some as late as eleven o'clock. With track starting this week, I really could have used the extra hours to sleep in, since I'm very tired and sore right now.
Instead, we have to get to school before everyone else does and spend three more hours taking the CAHSEE (math portion today), and still having to go to school after that. I woke up this morning and thought, "Man, I wish I were a junior instead," because that extra sleep sounded wonderful, even thought I did get 11:15 PM - 7:15 AM of sleep. [The reason I am taking time to mention this is because last year, everyone still had to go to school. They changed the regulations this year--the year I take the test--so that's it.]
This makes me think about it and mope more because Richard and Stephen said yesterday, "Hey Chris, want to go to Perko's with us tomorrow? Oh... wait, you're a sophomore right?" Awkward silence. "Yeah, I'm a sophomore." Apparently a lot of people still think I'm a junior... or at least, didn't think I had to take the test. Meh, it's just another thing to anticipate for next year.
In case you still don't know what I'm talking about, the sophomores have to take the "California High School Exit Exam" from 8:15 - 11:15 AM today, and we took it at the same time yesterday--english and math, respectively. The freshman, juniors, and seniors get to sleep in and not go to school until 11:52 AM. Those lucky ducks.
The good part about today is that since we had first and second period after lunch yesterday, today we only have third and fourth period. NO CHEMISTRY! I think that alone is worth celebrating. Nonetheless, with all my ranting, the test really isn't that bad and honestly I don't mind taking it, and knowing that I will finally get it over with is reassuring so that next year, I can sleep in and laugh at the sophomores next year (the current freshmen).
I was still able to get a good breakfast (two bowls of Apple Jacks... heh), and although I've only been awake for twenty minutes, I'll probably be ready to go and out the door in another ten. Until then, take care, everyone, I'll hopefully be home tonight after Derek's attempted "Jam session" at 5:15 PM. With any luck, we'll be able to pull that off.
