Arrival Of PowerShot Pro 1 / Remainder Of Week

I have lots of things to say. It is late, though, and I must act with haste. I can manage--no worries.

Today, was not only a day that I spent 7:30 AM - 9:30 PM at school, but a day where I felt fulfillment and just altogether comfortableness. That's not all that happened...

I now physically own the ever-so-anticipated Canon PowerShot Pro 1 8 MP Digital Camera.
I was not expecting it to come in the mail today--not until tomorrow afternoon, but Amazon is awesome like that. To get the camera ($620) and memory stick ($60), shipping wasn't an issue either, because in layman's terms, it's like they paid me $5 to ship it to me. Awesome, ain't it? Got to me in less than 48 hours, too!

I got home from marching band around 9:50 PM tonight and immediately started opening it and such. I went through the whole first part of the manual and followed all the steps on how to do everything. I've already taken about 85 test shots, seeing how the different modes, macro, and movie mode work. There's still a lot for me to learn, but from the past hour and a half, I think I've learned a whole freaking lot. I can instantly locate the flash button and/or macro in case I need them, erase easily by pressing the button, then "Set" to complete the command. The camera's actually a lot smaller than I would have expected... which is nice. I got the strap on there and everything.

With my 1 GB card (which is really only 976 MB) I can hold 480 pictures in the highest resolution (8 MP), on "Fine" mode--there's "Normal | Fine | Super Fine". Super Fine is like double the memory but the picture still looks the same, and besides, I want to take a lot of pictures, so it's cool for me. I don't want to say I'm disappointed already, but it's not the 20D, so it doesn't have continuous shooting, a removable lens, faster shutter lag, higher ISO and shutter speeds, and a few more things. I know I'm going to grow to love this camera, though.

In the next three weeks I'm going to take an estimated 2,000-3,000 pictures, at least. I'm going on a camping trip with my cross-country team and then to Minnesota from October 17 - 24, and attending a wedding. I'm going to be taking loads of pictures and then I'll be able to share them! I sure hope I can get a version of Photoshop to work for me. I'm thinking of making a picture post with my remaining pictures from the P72; I'll do that soon, when I get time.

I have two finals tomorrow: World History and Spanish 3. I'll see how I do... I'm pretty prepared, but with cross-country and marching band I've had no time to study. I've taken the happiness of my day on the simple things: a good meal, the reliableness of my mp3 player, receiving my new digital camera, and the support of my friends. Tomorrow will be a pretty hectic day as well, but it's prime time to take pictures, I'd say, with the whole concert that night and all. Then, it's Derek's birthday on Friday. Although we've been going through some frustrating times in the past couple of weeks, I know we'll set that aside and regardless of what he's going to do on his birthday, he's going to have a great one.
