Hello friends. I know it has been a while since I saw fit to do a decent update. I'll try not to be too wordy. I am back in school now and living in the Winkler castle with my sweet pea Ashley. I like having a room to myself. My classes are:
- Research Methods
- Gerontology
- Social psychology
- Behavior Modification
- Aerobics
- and my favorite: Gospel choir!
None of the others are particularly notable. But honestly, Gospel Choir is the first choir I've been in that I've actually enjoyed since DSA Chorale. It is so refreshing to sing with people who believe what they're singing. It's amazing, this is the first semester that I know the names of the people sitting next to me.
I got some fish for my dorm. They're overflows from Thomas's guppies. He gave me one male, two females, and a few snails. Their names are: Snicker, Doodle, and Ginger Snap. And today is a special day because Doodle had seven baby guppies, yes, I am an auntie! I screamed when I looked in the tank today, then I called Dena, Thomas, and my Mom. The babies are SO little, but they have big black dots for eyeballs. I'm looking forward to seeing them grow. I'm kinda angry at Snicker right now, he keeps on chasing Doodle around the bowl trying to get it on and she keeps telling him "No, I just had your babies, leave me alone!" I tried to separate him to give her a break, but he won't let me catch him. Stupid horny fish.
Tomorrow I am going home because I am spending the weekend with my mama. We're going to Williamsburg, VA for a women's conference. And the best part is that Friday, I get to go to Busch Gardens!!! Sure beats the heck out of sitting in gerontology class. I think I need this weekend with my Mom. I've been under some stress lately that comes with this stage of life. Everyone keeps saying how college is an incredible time in your life when you are making life changing decisions and deciding who you will be for the rest of your life. That's great and all, but it's also frustrating. All this pressure. Gimmie a break.
So most of you know I just had my 21st birthday. OH my goodness it was the best birthday I can remember because Sarah, Dena, and Liz took me out to dinner at Taco Bell and as we were leaving Sarah blind folds me and tells me there's a surprise, but we have to drive there. I had no clue what was going on. After we drove for about 30 minutes and sang a bunch of camp songs we get out of the car and she tells me to take off the blindfold. When I could see again there was like a dozen of my good friends and a campfire out at Price Park. We made smores and played capture the flag til well after midnight. It was so much fun. On my actual birthday, Thomas cooked his famous French toast for dinner and even made a cake. He's a sweetie. As for the significance of being 21, yes, I did partake of that which I am now legally allowed to partake of, but i didn't get drunk. I tried a "peppermint patty" as my first legal drink. It was a shot of peppermint schnapps swallowed with about a teaspoon of chocolate syrup. Not bad. And there was no icky after-taste.
Let's see, what else... oh. I need your help in naming the seven baby guppies swimming around over here. Any suggestions? Be creative.
