Music Major Satire

One of my professors showed me this youtube video about music majors....it's priceless and satirizes correctly everything about "bad" music majors. I go to a university with a small music department...so yeah. I can appreciate this. I hope no one takes offense!

Thanks! I'm really excited about it. :)

Hah, nice - good for you!

Yeah, it's similar. I took a couple seminar courses this year; pretty much the only ones that I could take without moving into graduate classes. I might take one in my final year, but next year is already looking crazy for me, so I might hold off and just take an elective or two. :) Your seminar sounds awesome! We might have one on early opera, next year.

Oh wow, that sounds quite intimidating! In my second year, you just played a regular jury - but mine needed to be 10 minutes longer as it was a performance audition. Ahh, I love the G Major French Suite! (The Gigue is so charming!), I've never studied that particular Beethoven sonata, but I know the last movement is harrowing! Chopin nocturnes are always lovely, and I really love Barber's music. The chamber piece you're playing sounds really neat! This sounds like a great recital program. :)

Well, right now I'm gearing up for a performance at the end of the month of mvts 1 & 2 of Haydn's Sonata in C Major, no. 50, and Schumann's Papillons. Otherwise, all my new repertoire for next year is in my latest entry on my journal. :)

To be honest, I have yet to formally narrow down my thesis, but I'm thinking along the lines of pastoral imagery and influence. I'm completing an independent study this summer on Beethoven, so that should help a little. :)

So, who's your favorite composer, then? ;D Mine is Beethoven, lol. Though I certainly love Chopin, Schumann, Debussy, Brahms...the list goes on!

Good luck with your upcoming performance! I love that Schumann...the whole piece has such an interesting background.

I like your idea of doing a thesis on pastoral imagery and all that...you could take that a lot of places. Your independent study should be loads of fun---I'm jealous! :)

Hmmm favorite composer....this is so hard. I adore Chopin...I love Barber, Gershwin, the Schus, Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky (not particularly for his piano music though), the Impressionists...I don't know, I love them all. I get a little picky when it comes to 20th Century, however.
