This is an awfully specific question, but I'd be grateful to anyone who has suggestions. (Now that I think of it, is there a community out there where pianists can ask for piece-specific advice?)
I'm working on Gottschalk's "Souvenir de Porto Rico", and it's coming along, except for four measures that just aren't sitting right under my left hand. I've tried a number of different fingerings, and none of them are working consistently for me. It's the passage starting at measure 216 in my copy, right before the pp and senza rallentando. The best I can come up with is, in the left hand, 2 3 2 1 2 ; 3 4 1 2 1 ; 2 4 3 1 2 ; 3 4 2 5 2, but even that feels unnatural. If anyone on here has played this piece recently, did you manage to find a comfortable fingering?
Sorry for the odd question. It's just such an idiotic passage to have trouble with! But since I'm asking, I'd also welcome suggestions for recordings so I can see what people have done with it, stylistically speaking.
