Annoyed... so annoyed...
I just wanted to say that I don't get how the translator work up the Finnish names for movies... I watched these two Clint Eastwood movies from TV last summer and I thought the names were straight translations from the original names as they mostly are. So I got confused slightly...
There was this western with Eastwood and Shirley MacLaine and it was called "Kourallinen dynamiittia" [a fistful of dynamite] and I knew there is this one Sergio Leone's movie called "A Fistful of Dynamite" and first I thought it was the same movie, but then I realized that it couldn't be. For two reasons: firstly Eastwood made only three movies with Leone [The dollar trilogy: A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More and The Good, The Bad and The Ugly] secondly Leone wouldn't have done a comedy. He makes good westerns, but action is his stuff, not comedy. So now I went to explore IMDB.com [believe me, it's heaven] and I found out that the movie I saw from TV is originally "Two Mules for Sister Sara"". What the heck? Two mules became a fistful of dynamite? O_O? What were they thinking about? Yeah, Clint had one fistful of dynamite in the movie, so let's name the movie after that, fuck the original name! Fuck the confusions this renaming will cause! Fuck the whole mule!
The other movie I watched was "Korpraali McB" [that's the TV name, in theaters it was "Korpraali John McB"]. Again I presumed the original name was the same, but no. "The Beguiled" it's the real name. What does that even mean? Well I know now, after a look at the dictionary. It's "houkuteltu" in Finnish, so the translation wouldn't have worked. So here I "approve" the new title. [The main character is lance corporal John McBurney, but he prefers to be called "McB".]
From now on I shall never ever try to tell about movies with the translations of their Finnish names...
