[Up until the end of that feed, Lenalee had been prepared to offer a rough estimate of how many people are in the building. She can count off the top of her head all the Black Order members (the shady Xi and... Alma... included), as well as several others she's grown (marginally) closer to over the last few weeks.

But then she sees Naoto's eyes harden, the way his gaze focuses on something out-of frame, and she knows what he's seeing. She's been seeing them, too. Every morning, every evening. Getting worse as the week wears on. So she forgets about giving a headcount and instead starts an audio feed- so no one has to feel as if the other is trying to pry- and says, in the tight voice of someone trying to fake their way through a difficult situation:]

Naoto? Are you all right?

[Whatever a copying machine is, it sounds mighty handy. Somehow, not knowing what it is only serves to drive in the fact that they don't have one, and Allen surmises that if he can bemoan the absence of technology he's not even familiar with, redrawing the maps by hand must have been particularly tedious for Naoto.

So there's an extra suffusion of warmth in his voice when he replies: ] There are 23 of us in total, including you and myself. [ He sounds very sure of this. ] Thank you again for doing this, Mister Shirogane. I see Lavi has already offered to help trace the maps, but I'll be happy to lend a hand too.
