But then she sees Naoto's eyes harden, the way his gaze focuses on something out-of frame, and she knows what he's seeing. She's been seeing them, too. Every morning, every evening. Getting worse as the week wears on. So she forgets about giving a headcount and instead starts an audio feed- so no one has to feel as if the other is trying to pry- and says, in the tight voice of someone trying to fake their way through a difficult situation:]
