Interesting?

...That is a understatement.

Well, a little, I admit.

Given the rather unusual terrain for a pack of cactuars, I'd agree that 'interesting' was a slight underestimation of the situation.

One does have to question why they're in the area, after all.

What kind of region or habitat are these cactuars usually located in?

The deserts of The Badlands and typically the hottest parts, at that.

They tend to inhabit dunes and live in large colonies, since they're rather social. According to some of the books I've studied, they have also been found in desert caves on occasion, but not many people have bothered to put the time in to study exactly how their societies work, so I couldn't say how common or true this phenomenon is.

They basically share the same habitat as normal, run-of-the-mill Cacti, though. The only difference seems to be that they move and when they do, it's very swiftly.

Moving cacti? Hm, so these are plants.

Strange...

I assume they are highly vulnerable to fire, if so we are going to need lots of firepower.

They are quick and ridiculously so. As far as I remember, they don't have a particular susceptibility to fire, due to their habitat.

Still, they will be damaged by the explosions and barrage of ammunition, nonetheless. You will either need to fire on them in sustained, unavoidable volleys or they will move or tunnel underground. They are notoriously hard to hit even at close range but they aren't exactly hard to kill, providing you can get a few clear hits in.

How fast are we talking about? Probably faster than our gunners and our cannons...

They can tunnel underground as well? Hm... They are surprisingly formidable foes.

You have my thanks for the information.

At close enough range and providing you have enough shots, they shouldn't stand much of a chance. Just don't give them an inch.

Good luck.
