General Update
So Alissa has come through the surgery and there have been no complications this far. She was in quite a lot of pain the first few days but that mostly ended once we got her home, last Sunday. Now that the initial pain from the surgery has mostly faded we can start to gauge how effective the surgery was for relieving her symptoms from before, although apparently it will take some time for all of the symptoms to go away (i.e. The nerves will take some time to recover even if things went perfectly). But in short, thus far it seems like nothing short of a miracle how much better she is now than at anytime in the past few years. She is walking, talking, has less pain, she can think and speak again. I have seen her up and out of bed more in the past week than I had in the past 3 months. She can actually do things again and she should just keep getting better and better over the next few months. So things are looking to be very very good.
It's actually really strange for me because this is probably the best she has consistently felt since we started living together and it's almost like living with a completely different person. I am so used to having to take care of everything around the house and taking care of her, that to have her able to take care of most of her needs as well as wanting to help with the houseWork seems strange.
Other than the surgery and recovery from the surgery we have been keeping pretty quiet. I'll probably get back to work on my dissertation this week, and maybe now I will be able to make some serious progress on it. Time to graduate and get a job and make some money! Also, I am looking to play some D&D. I want to start a weekly game up here, probably getting together on a weeknight or Sunday afternoon or something. Anyone interested or know someone in the area who might be? Also for those folk from home whom I left hanging in my Salzberg game, if you are still interested maybe we could all get together some weekend and wrap that up. You were right near the end so it shouldn't take long. Anyway, people should let me know on either count. Or if you want to get together and play poker or do anything really, I think we have our lives back and want to do something with them.
