Read as a Matter of Urgency: About sable_debutante

And so
sable_debutante continues to puzzle and frustrate the best of us.

And i believe there is a valuable lesson to be learned from "her project".

Those who come and see "her work", who claim it is art, who patronize those who dont see it, who argue that if you were not a philistine, you'd understand it...
Then there are those who yell in frustration, who post curses and spam endlessly, asking to be "removed" from "her" friends list.
There are a few of us, me included, who are negative about the idea, but do not feel the need to articulate hatred in order to show our displeasure.
Then comes the biggest group of them all, who are just plain confused.

And i have this to say on the matter -

I believe
sable_debutante is a wonderful hoax. A bot, deisgned with some interesting coding that, due to my lack of understanding of programming, cannot really interpret. But, this said, i know that there are some vital clues as to the user behind this project, and i believe quite firmly in the need to stop the project.
Quoting
shadow_vagabond , "If it's a bot, someone created it. There's always a chicken who laid the egg"
And i have the following links that suggest to me some connections...

1)       http://sable-debutante.livejournal.com/10216.html?thread=1057768#t1057768
This exchange was in response to my own comment on sable's entry. I wrote that i had two possible theories as to why the "project" was created - One, for someone to work out, or Two, for attention. That exchange follows
dirtyfilthy's response. My original comment can be read on Page Two of the comments for that entry.

2)       I'd like to direct the attention of anyone reading this who is disliking the project to this link: http://dirtyfilthy.livejournal.com/197184.html
I found that link through following exactly what
dirtyfilthy said: search google. You can all search "sable_debutante" on google for yourselves, and you will indeed see this entry i found. I might also mention:
shadow_vagabond, you are mentioned in the thread.

Shortly after my exchange with dirtyfilthy, i have noticed that i was finally de-friended from sable_debutante's list.
Perhaps, my confused peers, the answer is questioning the system.

I'd also like to draw your attention to
dirtyfilthy's response to a comment, which asks, "So then what is the point of sable_debutante?"
Dirtyfilthy then replies: "I'm trying to quit smoking and she gives me something to do with my hands."

My heart goes out to
majamoi, i hope you are de-friended by "her" soon.

And lastly, in response to dirtyfilthy's comment...
It is indeed interesting to see how a robot can interact with people on social and emotional levels. However, i criticise the tactlessness of you project, despite finding myself both amused and uncomfortable with people's love/hate responses. Having questioned the project's authenticity from the beginning, i can only commend you on one thing: it worked. It worked in the sense that there is a very interesting point to be learned. You indeed revealed a lot about people and their use and connection to livejournal. And perhaps it can be translated to the bigger picture, of general internet use by the young people/internet-savvy people of today. You sucessfully created divisions amongst people much like yourself, and though i do not approve of your occasionally over-aggressive methods, it was something very interesting to watch.

But perhaps it would have been more sucessful if you had been a little more careful. Not just in what you have said, but also in how you have conducted the project generally. perhaps this disliked project could have been far more...intelligent. Maybe, you could have done so much more with it. Maybe you could have reached some real conclusive results. Philosophically, it is interesting still. But many people will have missed any point to it. And indeed i find myself wondering...
Maybe this project would have been far more interesting if its point were not to simply occupy your time.
As an idea, creating a bot such as this could produce intriguing results.
However, your reasons and methods were not at all intriguing or respectable.
And so i say, i commend the structure, but the foundations were flawed.

I would however be very interested to run a similar project, but found it differently and give it some principles. The internet generation intrigues me incessantly.
