a lot of my entries have been lost since I would type them in notepad, go away from my laptop, my laptop would then go on its screensaver or something and then my computer would restart and my stuff would be gone. That sucks ass...Plus, I wrote another entry while I was at work.....because of my BORDEM while there, and it came out to like 9 pages......that filled my hole for a few days at least....
Anyway....things are.......interesting. I was asked to audition for a piece by Jane Comfort at Ailey, which is interesting, because i'm the only new fellowship person that was asked, which is an interesting big deal.I think Ms. J saw the tape from when I auditioned for Alexandre Prioria, which I looked good doing his stuff...I guess he just didnt want me. Anyway, Ailey is......it just IS. I feel like I get better after every week. I feel like I'm just taking the information and running with it. I don't understand how Cliff could have done something like Ailey over the summer and then go back to school where everything is so....easy....where you kinda feel like you can do whatever you want, especially as a guy. I mean, the program is good, but I feel like its so....loose. its not so....strict. And that could be good and bad. Good, because you don't feel like you have to fit into anything, be it a mold or dance clothes!!! You can develop yourself, as a dancer, as an artist, as an expressionist, but I think its being taught at a point where its too early for that. But then, jazz is loose anyway....eh, whatever.
We perform Christopher's piece for the first time on saturday....I am NERVOUS!!!!!! The piece is hard, period. I got thru it tonight pretty well, but saturday....we have tech tomorrow, so we see the theatre.....ay ai ai.
dance is HARD. I don't care what anyone says. I never felt like dance was hard when I was at UB. I felt like we did it, it came to us, we performed. But, at Ailey, I mean, even just...working with C. Huggins, OMG........Its just so hard....classes at Ailey are HARD and people do advance, but the advanced students are like...ADVANDED dancers. Was looking at Horton 3 today and I was like "Um, DAYUM!" Mr. Myers was teaching, and we all know how much I LOVE that man and the combo was simple enough that you didn't have to think about dancing it, but it envolved such a good mix of technique and drama, which is what Mr. Myers is AMAZING at doing. These kids were DANCING man.....and strong and legs and everything. There were some Ailey 2 boys in there and 1 girl who was in Ailey 2 like 2 years ago or something, who I think is AAAAAAMAZING. Anyway, I'm looking at class just like "Ugh......"
Anyway, I gotta take shower, wash my dance clothes out, blah blah blah before AMC comes on. A nap tomorrow is in order...I think I'm gonna skip jazz.....
