On my way home today I met Opposite Lady.
Coming home from Charing Cross the train I, and several other people, wanted was announced on the board before it turned up at the platform, and 5-10 minutes before it was due to leave.
Many people swarmed towards the barriers and queued up to go through and as I was about to go through a lady pushed in front of me.
"It's OK," I said, "I don't mind you pushing in front of me."
We passed through the barriers, her just in front of me, and she turned to tell me that "everyone is doing it".
I looked back and around to see multiple queues of multiple people patiently wending their way through the barriers.
"No they aren't," I replied, "the polite people are all queuing up."
There then followed some minor elements of dialogue before she told me to "get away from her", whilst making sure she moved close enough to me so I could hear her. I pointed out we were both heading for the same train on the same platform and that we were therefore travelling in the same direction to which she called me a "weird, little person". Now, admittedly dear readers, there are many who would call me weird but I'm sure you would also all agree that there are very few who could call me little.
She then told me, very clearly, that she wasn't speaking to me any more, and, when I pointed out how little sense that made, tried to claim it over and over that she wasn't talking to me, she wasn't saying anything to me, and she most definitely wasn't speaking to me.
At that point I realised quite how pointless it was trying to engage the woman so carried on walking to and up the platform and waited for the train whilst she wandered off to sights unseen.
