Apple's great business model

Reportedly, it's going to cost just shy of $86 to get the battery in an iPhone replaced. Ouch!

The batteries are reportedly soldered in. Who the heck solders batteries into cell phones (or anything else, for that matter!)? Anyway, I seem to remember hearing that the first generation of iPods had irreplaceable batteries, so I suppose this is a step up for Apple. I don't understand why people put up with this kind of stuff.
