Finished my book

I just finished Harry Potter and the Half Blood Price, again. This is the second time I've read the book, and I was pleasantly surprised with this re-reading.

When the book came out, I worked the midnight event with Lauren at B&N. I remember seeing the children who had just purchased their books, settling down right away to read it. I remember the challenge of staying ahead of my peers in reading. I remember Lauren finishing the book one night while I slept.

I tore through this book the first time. I didn't read it for content, so much as I read it to get it done before anyone else. During this re-read I discovered that was a horrible mistake. The book is full of little things that really made me happy. Last time I read it I wasn't happy, I thought that Rowlings did a poor job with it, and dubbed it the worst of all her novels. Now, I feel a little different, and am excited for the next one in July. I just can't believe it will be her last one.

When I read, I fall in love with the characters. It's their lives that I'm interested in. I want to know what happens to them, why, and where they will go from here. I pay attention to the overall story, but it's just not as important as the characters. So, with the books coming to an end, I will miss Harry, Hermonie, Ron, and all the others that she has made me fall in love with.

I suppose that's why I re-read. :)

I listened to Order of the Phoenix, I read Half Blood Prince, I am now ready for the upcoming movie and the last title both in July. With these tasks done, only one remains; I have to find a place to have my shirt idea done up and then I'll be set for the midnight events with Lauren.

Maybe, this time, I won't blow through the book, just to beat everyone else.
