Random musings

This last weekend was a blast. And it proved to me that I can indeed stretch myself more.

Friday I didn't work during the day. Lauren and I did errands that were long over due. We got a lot of ducks in a row, and then she left for work. I relaxed for an hour, and then I too went to work. Working just a shift at the theater was nice. Afterwards I headed home for more R&R.

Saturday, I was up early. Francis was turning 30, so I left the house early to get up to Storrs to be with him and his family for a little while. It was beautiful on Saturday, and I got to spend some time outside with my brother and parents. They like the new car, and I think my Mother is tempted to get one.

It was good to see Francis. I haven't seen him a lot since he moved to Boston. The thing I love about our relationship (and that of relationships I have with a good deal of my friend) when we come together, it doesn't matter how long we've been apart. We're brothers, and that always makes me happy.

My Mother and Mrs. Storrs got into it about who was going to be a Grandmother first. Turns out my parents are really jonesing for some babies around them. I leaned over to Fran and his wife, and mentioned that if I knocked up Stephanie (Fran's wife) it would be a tie, and she and I could split the money. Step and I have always had a flirty relationship, and we all had a good laugh at that. Followed by Step and I making plans and Francis shaking his head and grinning.

I had to cut out of the party early, which wasn't all together bad. I love most of Fran's family, but I dated his cousin once, and I think her parents hate me forever now. They were ignoring my presence throughout, even when I greeted them. Eh. That and everyone in the family (save Fran and Step, their cousin Rich) has had babies, and a lot of children were tearing around the house, screaming at the top of their lungs. I would have joined in, but ever time I went for a child, it screamed and cried and ran for its mother, who glared at me.

Worked a double Saturday through Saturday night, again not bad. Work has gotten a lot easier. Rushed home Saturday night for the UFC fights with Nathan. I missed only one fight I wanted to see, but heard it went the way I wanted it too. Franklin kicked the crap out of this guy, I was glad to see that, he won. Then Randy Couture came out of retirement and beat the reigning heavy weight champ, Tim Sylvia, and got another belt. It was an amazing fight, Randy came out 1st round and landed a punch that I thought was going to be the end of the fight. It was amazing. Another late night, I sacked out right after the fights.

Early Sunday. I was excited so it was hard to sleep. I got up early, really early for me, especially with all this running around I was doing. It wasn't easy, but I did it. I went out, ran a bunch of errands, then came back to the house, packed, got Lauren up and headed off to ling.

Ling was a lot of fun. I had a really good time. I danced, socialized, plotted, ran stuff, and had a great time. Ling turned a year old after this game. I'm really proud of Michael, the players, and the game as a whole, and am glad to be a part of it. Check us out www.thenewdream.org

Sunday night I was done. I got home, hung out and passed out.

Monday morning found me very sore. Everything hurt, and still does a little. All that dancing is new to my body, so the legs hurt. Math sucks, so I carried 8 12packs of soda, two bags of ice, and my cooler all the way to the game site by myself. It was hard, but I made it, and I think it was worth it. :) Earning money for game by selling soda, so good! I didn't bitch too much though, got to work on time, worked the day, had a good lunch with Nicole, and then headed for home.

Got home last night, grumpy faced. I just wanted to sleep, or so I thought. I found that when I lay down, even though my body was sore, I wasn't sleepy. Even with a warm woman next to me, I couldn't pass out, so I had to get up again. Nathan and I watched the departed, and then I got upstairs and lay awake in the dark, listening to my cats play with odds and ends, and then finally passed out.

This brings me to now. Awake, aware, and well rested. It was a killer weekend, full of running around and stuff to do. I haven't felt like this since I was in college and it's a good feeling. It makes me feel alive, just not alive to work. Thanks to everyone who made it such a good weekend.

I almost forgot the point of all that detail; I feel good. I feel alive, like a young man again. I can put more stuff into my schedule, and not die. It makes me wonder what I'll do with my off time. :)

Now for more random thoughts;

Last week I decided to bag on Black 47, and now I owe Ashley...something...I came home to find Paul in the house. It was really good to talk to Paul. In the couple of hours that he was here, I completely was put at ease about a ton of stress that had been running around me. I look forward to seeing him and Mrs. Crawford once my show comes down. I miss them a lot.

Speaking of, I know I haven't been able to call or write, but I hope you are well, Tara. I've been worrying about you, and following your progress on your journal when I get a chance. Hoping we can find some time to hang out soon. I will be at Black 47 at Toad's the Friday before St. Patties, (tickets ahead of time you think?) and I'm off for Patties day...

The Barmaid blog makes me sad. Recently she was sexually assaulted in her bar, and her manager didn't back her up and through the guy out. I manage an office myself, and I tried to think what I would do if one of my friends came down, and one of employees said he did that to her. I decided my friend would be out the door on his head, with my boot in his ass. Friend or no, you can't do that in my work place, where I have obligations. I hope it sorts out for the Barmaid.

Wedding planning is in full swing. I got involved some, which made me happy. Lauren and I are going to sit down once a week and update where we are. But it's coming up fast, so be ready!

Harry Porter and the Order of the Phoenix on CD, is amazing. I've been listening to it on my way to work, and the person reading does a different voice for each character, it's really good and a worth while investment.

I love swing. I don't know what it is, but the music and the moves make me laugh with glee. I've been tempted to ask to take classes with Michael and Ashley, or just look for somewhere I could around here. It's worth continuing.

I looked at a bulldog pup at the mall yesterday. My heart still hurts I couldn't take her home.

I know I know, I say this a lot, but I'm going to be looking for a new job between shows this upcoming month. Things just haven't been going well in the Box Office and I'm really bitter at my boss right now.

I haven't had any luck finding the casting agents who are casting The Song of Fire and Ice. Want want want.

300 comes out this week. Good shit!

I thought about trying out for Macbeth this upcoming weekend. I don't think I'd be able to actually be in the show, as it conflicts with my current work schedule, but it'd be good to audition for something again. And who knows what will happen.

Looking at the time, I'm out of it. Need to head to work. I love you guys, hope you had fun reading. I'll see what I can do about writing more soon.

Much love,

Joshua
