Sick people stay home!

Apr 03, 2013 20:46

So today - yes, this is a rant. A coworker walks into my work space to tell me something and then says they have a really sore throat and don't feel well. They better go home etc. Honestly, stay away from me with your illness and disease. Why do people come into the office when they are sick? Unless she got that sore throat at work, she had no ( Read more... )

That is the culture then. It is your right to take time off when sick but I can see how that is.

And that is really bad. Very frustrating indeed!

Does she get sick pay? If so I agree she should go home. But it's hard when you know you're too ill to work and can't drop the money. :(

We get sick pay or she can work from home if she is worried about that. Options, she has options. And she is here today and still sick. Ugh.

That would annoy me too. If you work in a place that allows sick then she should stay at home.

Where I work you get a job warning if you are off sick and a disciplinary leading to dismissal for a third time off sick in a rolling year, so people come into work really ill. I am glad I am not one of the regular staff - I can go sick without worrying about the consequences, except I will not get paid.

Don't you work in the medical field? That seems odd for the health field. I would not want to be tended by a sick nurse or doctor.

So she came in today and was sick really. This is ridiculous.

Loads of nurses and doctors go into work sick because of the stupid sickness rules.

AND she came in today. Looking like death warmed over. I am serious. I hate when people do this. I am so not sympathetic. GO HOME!

I hate when people do this too. It always happens tho no matter what. I mean I could see if someone was sick and had to work (like a lot of people do) but at least TELL someone and try to be mindful of them or if you have paid sick days, use them. My friend carries around a lysol can with her.. and wipes LOL. I mean it's funny to see her but I can see where she's coming from especially having a low immune system and if she gets sick she gets really sick and ends up either in bed for weeks at a time or in the hospital, not cool. I just think people should be mindful of others and this co worker of yours should have been mindful too. Hopefully you won't get sick :(
*hugs*
