So my computer had a virus. A particularly nasty one that took away my administrator controls, at one point locking my main account (basically that means windows loads without the ability to do anything, including shut down). It also prevented me from using Nero, which is the only way I have to back up files. I finally got it mostly under control, but knew something was up when I couldn't get it to boot up in safe mode.
So I sent it to my dad, who basically did everything I was trying to do, but with different software. After several hours, he decided that it was time to back up and rebuild the system.
Here's the problem: He did it without asking me. Here's the bigger problem: He did it after I had told him several times that I needed to back up everything on my desktop as well as the "My Documents" folder. He backed up My Documents, but not the desktop. About 60% of everything I didn't already have backed up was on the desktop -- including the edits of the last shoot I did with Cassandra (I do have the original RAW files backed up, but I'll have to edit them all over again).
I'm glad to have my computer back, but I could have fucked myself without being without a computer for a week.
