So last Saturday Ryan and I took another one of our little road trips. We went to Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ. We had to leave at like 1:00 a.m. to get there by the time the park opened. It was a 9 hour drive but it wasn't too bad. We got there right as the park opened and up first was Kingda Ka, Six Flag's version of our Dragster. Kingda Ka is 456 feet tall and reaches speeds of 128 miles per hour, the tallest and fastest in the world. Even though it was taller and faster than Dragster, the ride sucked. I could feel a pulse in the acceleration of the launch, which wasn't exciting. It made the ride less intense. We rode it once and that was enough.
They had a great selection of rides and coasters. The best ride by far was El Toro. It's a wooden coaster but I'm almost afraid to call it wooden because it is ridiculously smooth. Smoother than a lot of steel coasters I've been on. Intamin did a great job designing El Toro. The prefabricated wooden coaster concept really seems to be working. I hope that is the kind of coaster we get next at CP. El Toro had an unbelievable amount of airtime and was loads of fun. We ended up riding it four times throughout the day. It's the best coaster I've ever been on thus far.
The longest we waited all day was 15 minutes. The weather was decent, a little chilly but not too bad. But, that's definitely a park I'd consider returning to in the future.
Tomorrow, I'm going on another trip. A bunch of us from work are going to King's Island. I haven't been there since late 2004 I think. The weather is supposed to be amazing so I can't wait.
Work is getting me through the weeks now. There's no more sitting at home alone during the day thinking about how lonely I am. Now I do that at night.... :) We keep getting another new person in the warehouse each week. I like being at work most of the time. Some of the people get kinda annoying but overall I really like working at the warehouse. If I ever have the chance to do park set up again, I'd gladly go back to work in the warehouse. I only have 6 days left in the warehouse and then I move to Park Operations and begin running the rides, yay!
The weather is great once again and it still ticks me off that I can go running. Yeah, my knee is still fucked up. I think next week I'm going to have to get an MRI. I'm fucking sick of waking up each morning and having my knee still hurt.
Anyway, despite the knee problems, I'm pretty relieved right now because I had to give a speech this morning and I think it went rather well. All I have to do for my classes is write two more essays and take a two chapter test, then I'm all done with the semester.
Well, that's about it for now... until next time...
