2009 Year in Review Meme

Dec 22, 2009 13:33

It's a little early for this, but I just love doing this meme every year, so here goes!

1. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?

*LOL* Well, let’s see…. Watched my first Bollywood movie (and my 110th Bollywood movie), learned Hindi (or at least started to), saw my first cricket match, learned to keep score for cricket, drove to Canada alone, saw Niagara Falls, visited a Hindu temple … and a loooooot of other things!

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

My New Year’s Resolution for 2009 was to let go. Considering what I was holding on to, YES, I absolutely kept that resolution. I think I will make one for 2010, but I’m not going into that here.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

Katrina had Evelyn and Lauren had Emily. A couple other co-workers had babies too, and a few old friends as well.

4. Did anyone close to you die?

I … don’t … think so.

5. What countries did you visit?

Canada

6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?

Time. Definitely, definitely time. I was incredibly busy through almost all of 2009. And a man. =D

7. What dates from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory?

March 1, 2009. The day I watched my first Bollywood movie, Salaam-e-Ishq. Ah! And the day Mel and I went to that very first BOCC cricket match. I also liked the birthday party I threw for myself in July. It brought together a large, diverse group of people and I think everyone had a good time.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Being elected President of Bryn Athyn Community Theater.

9. What was your biggest failure?

I feel like I didn’t spend enough time with the people that matter to me.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

I had swine flu AND a kidney stone at the same time in November. I also sunburned my legs so badly that I couldn’t walk in May. Ouch!

11. What was the best thing you bought?

All the Bollywood DVDs and Indian clothing. No one single thing.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

Mike Thomas. He was a shining example of all that is good about the male of the species. And in the process of being himself he helped me to begin to chip away at 30 years worth of baggage.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

The person (whose name I can’t mention here as this is being cross-posted to Facebook) who taught me that yes, there is a limit to what I am willing to accept in terms of acceptable behavior, even though she might argue she isn’t hurting anyone other than herself.

14. Where did most of your money go?

Not counting expenses and bills, Bollywood and Indian clothing. And I think I did more eating out this year than ever before.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

Going to Toronto!!!! All three times I went. And Shah Rukh Khan, but that’s an entirely different kind of excited! *wiggles eyebrows*

16. What song will always remind you of 2009?

“Om Shanti Om” and “Dard-e-Disco” and all that they stand for.

17. Compared to this time last year, you are:

Happier or sadder: So very much happier, and I was pretty happy at this point last year.
Thinner or fatter: The same.
Richer of poorer: Maybe about the same.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?

Kissing boys?

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?

Part of me wants to say spending money, but I think almost all of my spending was worth it.

20. What was your word of the year for 2009?

Zindagi

21. What was your favorite month of 2009?

I don’t hate anyone. And the one person I do hate I hated this time last year too.

King of Bollywood: Shah Rukh Khan and the Seductive World of Hindi Cinema It was both a biography of SRK and a really interesting history of B-town.

Hindi film music. Talk about a whole other world of incredibly awesome music! That and CrazeFM, the online radio station I listen to it all on.

The pure, unadulterated joy of knowing that there is a world that I fit into and where I am wanted and needed.

Same thing I haven’t gotten for the past many years: a solid relationship with a loving, nice man.

I really can’t say that online. *shifty eyes* I don’t know who’s reading this. Heh heh heh

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?

Indian-inspired, I’m 35 and I can dress however I want, lack of inhibition about fashion fashion concept.

Bollywood and BOCC. And Mel. And Shah Rukh. =D

Life can be incredibly freakin’ wonderful if you’re open to new ideas and take those leaps of faith. And you have to take those leaps of faith because they make life wonderful.
