Oh my gosh, my team is a bucket of fail these days! How could a team with such a cool theme song, such an awesome owner, and the best color combination in the entire IPL suck so badly????
I'll tell you. For whatever reason, they've got this screwy thing going on with "multiple captaincy" of the team. Now I'm a cricket neophyte, but even I know that you don't change up the captain of your team inches before the season starts, and then during the season. And you DON'T replace the hometown hero, former India captain, best player on the team, captain with some guy from New Zealand, no matter how good he used to be. Frankly, I don't see what's so special about Brendan McCullum. He has been sucking elbows since the series started. And in today's game (which is still in progress as I write this but looking mighty bleak for the Knight Riders) he got out within two overs. COME ON!!!! Why is this guy captain?!?!? Actually, I think he's not anymore. I think I noticed somewhere that some other guy has been made captain.
But not Sourav Ganguly. That's who should be captain. Good old Sourav has not only been playing 5 times better than anyone else on the team, not only has he scored more points than half the other guys combined in the series so far, he's also actually from Kolkata. Doesn't it make sense to have the captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders be the guy from Kolkata? The guy playing better than anyone else? He came so close to winning the game last Thursday. That one was a serious heart-breaker. They lost in overtime by one point. Gah!
Of course the defense has been sucking a little too. They let Mumbai score 185 runs in the first inning. It was pretty pitiful.
*sigh* No wonder Shah Rukh has been getting death threats in the mail. *shakes head*
