Dance magic dance, jump magic jump

As a rule, I never dance. It's a good rule to have, because I can make an especially bold statement by breaking the rule. Tonight, for instance, I danced - badly, awkwardly and very briefly - at the Humanities formal, one of the greatest parties I have ever attended.

The secret to bad dancing is to dance with your upper body only. Forget about your legs. Forget about moving around. Just plant yourself in the middle of the dance floor, and start making chopping gestures with one arm after the other. Fix your hair as you dance. Check your pocket watch as you dance. For variety, re-enact David Byrne's arm-punching gestures from the "Once in a Lifetime" music video in 1980. I guarantee you, there's nothing cooler in the history of choreography.

I figured tonight was a night to live it up a little, because it is the last time I'll ever go to a Humanities formal. I still find it hard to believe I'm graduating. But I've had a good run, and I plan to make the most of my education while it lasts.
