More on the deudeuche
I had a day off today. I didn't spend all of it pining for a 2CV, just most of it. Unlike most of my hair brained ideas, the MSU isn't that adamantly opposed to the idea of me buying one. It's a whole lot cheaper than a prius and it actually gets much better gas milage. She is quick to point out, however, that I've never even ridden in one. I'd say most French people have two things in common: They all lost a family member in World War One, and they've all ridden in a 2CV.
The MSU claims that a louder, slower, less comfortable automobile than the 2CV has never been built. Yea, I guess I'd better find someone to let me test drive one before I commit; shouldn't be that hard...
But I did a little studying today and by any account, the 2CV was a technologial and marketing marvel. A machine that did what it was designed to do... well. All that in a package that screams comedy and austerity at the same time! Brilliant!
