So Elle and I broke up.

The relationship wasn't working for me. I was feeling something akin to... trepidation? Looking up the definition now, it's definitely not the precise word I need. Ambivalence? Some combination of the two, maybe. Who knows. Point is, my heart wasn't really in it right from the get-go, and I finally decided that, if that feeling hadn't faded much at all since we started this, it's probably time for it to end. Don't get me wrong; a lot of people have told me she's a fun girl--and she is--But, like I said, my heart just wasn't in it.

I brought it up. I figured she'd explode into a ball of tears, but she seemed to take it like a champ. She wants to be pals still, and we've sent a few text messages to each other since. She did say, however, that she's uncertain if she'll be able to come out for my birthday this Saturday. Can't say I blame her.

Well, that's another chapter in my dating history closed, I guess. I'm glad it's done, not because I regretted the efforts put into said chapter, but it was definitely time for me to move on.

I think I'm going to do what I should have been more focused on doing all along: I'm going to be on my own for a while and work on being me.
