volumes of info but not much to talk about, as usual, lol...
my sister (nyna, 18!) is finishing her SECOND time through her senior year. she may not graduate, because she skipped too many days of school, and my mother, for once, is making NYNA do the work to get the waiver so she can graduate!! graduation is the 16th, but i'm not holding my breath. i won't be attending anyway, but i'm still sadistically amused by the whole situation. for those who don't know: dumbass only had 2 (yes, TWO) classes that she had to take to fulfill her grad requirements. here in VA beach, you can't just take 2 classes, you have to take a full compliment of hours; but everything other than the required credits are fluff, and really aren't considered. how difficult can that be? really? the credits she needs are for the advanced studies diploma - she already quals for the standard diploma! so genius that she is, she has managed to have 2x as many UNEXCUSED absences than you're even allowed to have EXCUSED. that doesn't include the excused ones, lol. (excused means your mommy wrote a note saying you were allowed to be out). i have no sympathy, and actually find it funny; she had the BALLS to scream at my mother for "sabotaging" her graduation because mom wouldn't call the school and validate the unexc absences. unbefuckinglievable. somehow it isn't sinking in that she's EIGHTEEN and is legally responsible for her own behaviour, and mommy ISN'T going to bail her out if she fucks up :) <--amused face, lol. i'm just biding my time. if that makes me a bitch...TFB :)
our landlord refuses to let us get a cat. my therapist and psych both have "prescribed" a companion animal for me; just something to help my depression problems, something to keep me company when i'm home by myself. a loneliness thing. so, NOW we have to bring up the fair housing act, part of which states (in basic american english) that a landlord of a rental property cannot deny a reasonable request for accommodations for disabled persons. half of my disability is because of severe depression and agoraphobia, so i qualify. the fha describes "reasonable accommodations" as being anything intended to help a disabled person's ability to care for themselves, including altering entrances, installing safety equipment, or waiving "no pet policies" for those who need a companion or service animal. the landlord doesn't have to PAY for these accommodations, he just has to authorize them. we asked nicely. he said no f-ing way. so now we have to submit a formal letter of request, citing the fha, and go from there. i'm so pissed i can hardly think about it without wanting to throw up.all i want is a small cat; just ONE. and it's not like there's a lot of carpet here; everything but the bedrooms is stone tile, and my bedroom is 12x14; and the other 2 are almost a third smaller. that's less than 420 square feet of carpet, which is only about 1/5 of the total floorspace anyway. so wtf? our neighbor said our landlord is a weird guy anyway, so who knows? lol. i just want my own kitty. *sobs*
i FINALLY got that broken tooth pulled, and aside from wanting to cry over the missing molar, i'm at least better in that there's no pain anymore, lol :)i was panicky for a week or so while it healed over, but the gum tissue is filling in nicely now that the drysocket danger is past. the teeth beside it have already shifted slightly, but not noticeably, so i can accept that, lol.
my best friend is 33 years old, and was recently diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. this makes me so sad for her :( her hands are terribly painful for her. a person can work or function around a lot of body pains, but hand pain (imnsho) is not one of them! it effects (affects? i can never get them right) EVERYTHING one does. i can relate only in that my back and hips and knees hurt constantly, even at rest, but resting eases the pain. the pain in her hands doesn't seem to get better, and because of other meds she takes, she can't just take a painkiller, so it's there all the time, even waking her up at night. i don't know what i can do to help her, besides love her and be there to listen when all she can do is cry for it :((
what else is going on...
my cousin had her baby last month...a boy. apparently he's adorable and precious, but all i have seen is a pic of him at 4 hours old, lol!
the veterans' administration FINALLY quit fucking my dad around and he and kelly (another sister, 25) can move into their new house, at about 2x the monthly payment they had originally negotiated. governor warner is not going to like the boxes of dogpoop that kelly is likely to be sending him after they move this summer, LOL...
i finally have a wireless mouse! kelly got it for me for my birthday :) it's a little awkward, but it's WIRELESS! (and optical, of course) *danceajig* :) /me plays mahjong from her pillows instead of hunched over her dektop... whee ;)
and btw...if anyone reading this has a samsung s630 digital camera that they're not using, i could REALLY USE ONE... target has one for $100, but that's online, not instore, which doesn't really help me, lol... ;) and yes, i looked around, and "window shopped" and this is the camera that has the stuff i need, and very little of what i don't need, and it's not $1000 like my dad's camera, LOL! i put it on my christmas list, and e-mailed it to my family last week, lol.
we have a robin nesting on top of our porch light. there's 3 little blue eggs in her nest. i need to find out how long they gestate/nest. poor thing; every time we open the door, she flies off to hide, lol...so we turned the autolight off, and we're going in/out on a minimal basis to keep her stress as minimal as we can.
other than that, it's pretty slow around here. life consists of email, startrek, AFV, and "we are the 80's" (on VH1 classic). with the occasional pizza and orange juice thrown in, LOL. and soup. and apples. and cheese. whee. lol.
i'll be back. have a nice june :)
