it's strange how you can live somewhere for so long without noticing something that is ultimately so prevalent to the area. has anybody else ever noticed this?
what i've noticed lately in orlando and the surrounding area is the startling frequency of "drive safely" roadside placards decorated with wreaths of flowers... these mean that someone(s) has died there in an accident.
john came down from boston this weekend. i drove him to the airport today. counted thirty of these placards on my way to study group from the airport. that's only a twenty minute drive. it's like i'm surrounded by death. every few feet, someone's been killed.
