Another Post for you guys

I've been working in the Deli @ Stop & Shop in Hadley for about 2 weeks now. It's not exactly the most challenging thing I could be doing with my accounting degree and the working conditions kinda suck, but they're giving me enough hours that I could maybe possibly pay some bills if it keeps up.

I just got a second job at Southbridge Savings Bank, the Amherst Big Y branch, but they're kinda dicking me around about actually starting to work (and thus get paid). First, they called and left a voicemail offering me the job, so I called back. They asked if I wanted to accept it, so naturally I said yes. They said I should be getting a letter from their HR department asking me to formally accept the job and consent to a background and credit check, which I thought they had already done before they decided who they wanted to hire, but whatever. The credit check could be a problem seeing how I had sorta had my identity stolen back in December, so they might ask for some kind of documentation of that. But once that's all handled, then I'll have to schedule a drug test, which will be no problem except that I hate peeing in a cup...it feels so incredibly demeaning. Then me and the two other people that got hired have to go to Southbridge for three days of training at their company headquarters. They want us to carpool, but seeing how I have a life and half of it is in Central Mass., I might insist on driving myself at least one day so I can go see my fun friends and family. So basically, it could be 3 weeks before I start seeing a paycheck from that job.

This past Tuesday, I had an interview with a CPA firm in Hadley. It was a B-E-A-utiful drive there through lots of farmland. I showed up 5 minutes early, which was the perfect amount of time to informally bond with the interviewer before the interview. He went to UMass for his MBA, so we chatted about the business school and such. I think the interview went really well; I had some good questions, I managed not to get tongue-tied on the "What's your biggest weakness?" question, which I think it a bullshit question. All-in-all I got a good feeling from it. And I came home to Nick doing my dishes, which was beautiful. So anyways, keep all your virtual fingers crossed that I get this job. I want it SOOOOOOOO bad it hurts.

In other news, Nick is back from South Africa. He came up to visit last weekend and I threw a party in his honor. A bunch of kids from home came, so that was fun. There was a little drama, a little failure to light charcoal, and my front steps are covered in broken glass. There was a kick-ass game a frisbee around the cul-de-sac in front of my place. And apparently I don't remember a lot of later parts of the evening, which I found out the morning after at breakfast. That hasn't happened to me in a long time. Anyways, I thought it was a bunch of fun. I gotta throw more parties.

I'm still failing in my neverending quest to find the perfect man. Actually, all I really want is someone I can tolerate spending a lot of time with that I'm vaguely attracted to. I'm not even looking for anything terribly serious, though I certainly wouldn't mind if it fell into my lap. Anyways, if any of you meet the perfect guy for me, please, feel free to send him my way. Wow, that sounds kind of desperate, but I don't care.

Now, I must go prepare for another day at the hellhole that is the Stop & Shop deli. But at least it's only 4 hours today.

parties, jobs, boys
