Born in Liverpool, England, her family moved to Vancouver Island, Canada when she was three years old.
At age 11 Kim returned to London to study at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art for a semester.
After graduating from High School in Vancouver she won a scholarship to study at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York and was discovered by Otto Preminger and given a part in his movie "Rosebud" in 1975. After that film she returned to Vancouver Theatre and an agent saw her in a production of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" in Toronto, and offered her a seven-year deal with Universal Studios in Los Angeles
She was in "Porkys", "Police Academy", "Mannequin", "Star Trek VI", "Bonfire of the Vanities", and many, many other films
