At long last...
After being on the phone with insurance companies, hospitals, debt collection people, the Minnesota BBB, all three credit reporting agencies, and online going to all of their websites... I no longer owe those two copays that I've tried to pay 4 times since 7/13/05.
Yup, that's right, I'm finally free of all of this!
Amazingly, the University of Maryland Medical System is one of 4 hospitals in the country that doesn't report to the credit agencies, and just counts on you paying your bill eventually. Which explains why I was arguing with the collections guy saying it wasn't on my credit report as being delinquent.
Plus, it was pretty much free, since they failed to process a credit card payment from the first time they told me I had to pay it, so now I paid it, but cancelled the prior payment... meaning I'm short the money I'm going to get refunded once the cancellation goes through... and I think I netted a loss of 4 dollars to do it over the phone instead of online, since I had to do something non-standard.
Now if I could just find out why the basement smells like cat all of a sudden my morning would be rocking right now.
And no, I don't want to talk about saturdays game. Even if the officiating mistakes were reversed we didn't play well enough to win and I know it.
