I had a very eventful day. I think I can only describe it as a tapestry of photos, taken by myself and a friend. Enjoy, people! :)
BBQ Partaaay at Perkins!
Group pic of people from Unit 13!
Yep, we had a dorm BBQ. It was sponsored, mostly in part, by a professor of the university! Unfortunately, the burgers were so popular that I only got to eat a hotdog.
Providence Nightlights
I went downtown with a couple of friends to watch the Providence firelights. It's a tradition here every weekend to light to river on fire! I had to see it with my own eyes, so I arrived early.
This is Providence River.
The bridge across the river.
Providence night scene. The city itself is centuries old, but new architecture are beginning to sprout all over the place.
We arrived early, but already the place was full of people, some of them tourists, others natives of the city.
The firelighting began. Basically, the boat carried a man onto a ridge in the middle of the river, which was lined with several huge torches. The man would perform a few acrobatic tricks and light each of the torches in succession. There was also music to go along with the performance!
Yeah, fire on!
This is what it looked like after the show. I don't really think the picture does the scene justice, but it was spectacular! You really have to see it for yourself.
Surprise, surprise, this is not a statue, but a real life person! For a fee, you could take a picture up close with him and receive a souvenir.
In front of the old bank. Yep, Providence is a really old city.
As I like to say... GROUP PICTURE!!!
And a wacky photo. :P
Yep, that's about it, folks. I'd like to write more, but I'm so freaking tired! If any of you guys happen to drop by the area, come visit me, and I'll definitely give you guys a tour. For free, of course!
