Visiting an old teacher

Went to visit 張珍珠老師 today with a couple of friends today. Henry, Jin, Erica, KL, and Audrey with her two sisters and her mother met up at Makay Hospital at 6:00 PM to pay a short visit. Eagle, Daniel, and Ming were there as well, and Tiffany and Fung-lin also came later. We had to wait until 6:30 PM to be admitted. We tried to joke around to ease the tension, but deep down everyone was nervous and worried.

So, we finally got to go see 老師 in pairs, but we didn't get to talk to her because she was asleep. Jin and I went in together, and after we softly informed her of our names, she opened her eyes slightly and closed them. It was only a second, but there were tears in her eyes; whether it was tears of pain or joy, I was really glad to have come to see her, if only for a minute. I had written a card for her also, but her son told me that she was too sick to read it, but he would read it for her.

We stayed in the hospital for an hour and a half, occasionally talking about the future, but I spent most of the time reminiscing. It reminded me strongly of the last time I saw my aunt, who had terminal cancer. Even after so many years, it's hard to forget that moment we walked into the room... Despite her intense pain, my aunt sat up and greeted us with a warm smile. She certainly inspired me to appreciate life more, to give your best always.

After leaving the hospital, Audrey's mom took us to Geant to have dinner. It was almost 8:00 PM then, and we ate at the food court there.

We enjoyed an hour of chatting and playing around with cameras. Audrey's little sister Ingrid was very addicted and kept taking "ambush shots" of each of us. When showed a picture of Aud, Ingrid exclaimed, "Hey, lemme see if I can find any pimples!" Audrey, you have a cool sis. ;)

Then everyone started talking about girlfriends for some odd reason. Erica suddenly asked, "Who do you think will be the first to get his girlfriend." Audrey said it would be me. "Yeah, two months," Erica agreed.

"I hope you're right," I said, "Am I really that charming?" I swished my hair back playfully to make a dramatic effect.

"Make that two years," Erica changed, and we had a good laugh. :P

Amidst this gloomy day, I was thankful to have an hour of happiness. Hope 老師 can recover soon...
