I know I haven't updated in a bit, so here it goes:

the weekend before thanksgiving, my parent's house caught fire. a heat lamp being used to warm some puppies fell over and the bulb didn't break. They come home from lunch to find the place FILLED with black smoke, so my Dad rushes in, starts opening windows and rescuing puppies. He got all of them out except for the ones in the back room where the fire was, and got a ride to the hospital for smoke inhalation. Thankfully, he's fine. There is soot everywhere though- even in the sock drawers on the opposite end of the house.

They moved into my step-mom's mother's old house, that has basically sat vacant for two years- the person in charge of the estate did nothing to move it along, thank goodness. Now they're in a different home, but it's not a motel, and have settled as well as possible. That's where we had Thanksgiving. It wasn't at Ryan's steakhouse.

The insurance company is a bunch of saints. They're giving them enough money that the folks decided to scrap the old house and get a new one. It'll be smaller, but won't have the problems that the old one did. Talk about a blessing in disguise. If you want to buy a Christmas puppy, now's the time.

Both little brothers are getting married in the Spring, one of which before he gets deployed to Afghanistan. They want to pay me but I'd rather not take it since they're family, but you know, who am I to turn down money? I wish I didn't need to take it. I don't know if I can get to the one in S. Carolina though, it'll depend on the scheduling. I'll have to talk to Dave about it.

The unemployment checks are rolling in now, which means I can pay rent. Christmas should be slim, but not unmanageable.

I got a lot of paint supplies from Marta's mom- paints, canvases, brushes, an easel. Makes me realize that I need to take better care of my brushes. :P

I'm slowly getting things done from the summer that need to get done.
