Well, even though I have already "commenced," I still showed up to Commencement to get my degree. It wasn't as awkward as I thought it would be, and the speakers were surprisingly not pompous or annoying. Also, I am apparently not the only December grad who's having a hard time finding a real job. Like my high school graduation ceremony, it started outdoors but was then relocated indoors after it started to rain.
Here is Harry Shearer, our graduation speaker, processing down the aisle during the ceremony
and that's me!

Here we are, sitting in our wet polyester gowns in the Goucher gym.

Amy Berlin '04 came down from Newark, Delaware to see me (and Linh) graduate
and so did Melissa Matthew '04
My cousin Liz sent me text messages throughout the ceremony, informing me that the woman in front of her smelled like urine.
and here I am with my former roommate Allison.
My favorite moment of graduation was when we were processing towards the stage, getting ready to receive our degrees. My professor from Math 100 was there to give me my hood and I gave her this HUGE hug and thanked her for getting me through that class. I am so glad I finally got to thank her for all the ways in which she helped me.
At the same time, that was definitely enough sentimental schmoozing to last me a few years.
