Today I got a $40 haircut. I haven't spent that much on a single hair cut EVER. Normally my cuts are around $15 max. I've been letting my hair get really shaggy, the intention was that once I finally got it cut again I'd be rid of all the damaged bleached stuff. So I decided today was the day (it was pretty bad). But alas! My normal place, where they give cheap, sensible cuts, was closed for renovations! So I went to this other place that I know is good, but have never been to before. It happens to be in this swanky part of Oakland (yes there are a couple of those, near my house in fact) so I knew it was going to be pricey compared to what I usually pay. And I know that $40 is not actually that expensive compared to what some folks spend on their hair. But geeze. That's 4 hours of work for me (disheartening to put it in that perspective, huh?). Well, rather than search for some unlikely other cheap place, I sucked it up and sat down. Let me tell you: $40 gets you a damned good hair cut. This appeases me slightly. Not that I normally get bad cuts. My hair is really forgiving. As long at it is short I can make it pretty cute with minimal effort. But this lady is really good, and she did some very clever things (I was watching closely in case I want to try replicating it). I haven't felt quite so thrilled by a hair cut since Becca and Lindsay mohawked me. (not that this looks anything like a mohawk. It's just that level of new-ness.) Anyhow. It makes me feel even cuter and sassier than normal--so look out! That being said: I'm looking forward to my normal place being open by the time I need a haircut again.

In other news: dad and I talked today about taking out some of my stocks to use as capital for my business. It's a thought, and one I hadn't considered. I've got about $10,000 in Abbott stock right now and even a quarter of that could sure buy me a lot of millinery supplies, nice business cards, labels, potentially even go toward that live-work space that Jillian and I have been talking about. It's thrilling.

Tonight was supposed to be Buffy night, but I chickened out. The dude who invited me said today that he wouldn't be showing up til late, and I didn't want to go show up uninvited at someone else's house and not know anyone there. But he said he will be there next week, so I am determined to go. I stayed home and made another hat instead. I'm a hat-making machine! A chicken, anti-social hat-making machine. Oh well.

The great thing about being sweet on someone very far away is that it doesn't have to be an issue in your daily life.

I am wearing my BrHOOwn CHOOllege shirt to bed. It is making me nostalgic. I remember when the shirts came in and I tried to stuff myself into the box of them. I also remember Lindsay documenting it.

hoo boy. Ran the gamut with this post huh?
