My weekend

Jun 21, 2009 10:46

I had a weekend all to myself and spent it with a fair balance of time to myself and time with my friends.

Friday night I had unexpected tickets to see Me and My Girl at the Drayton Theatre. It was a hilarious flip version of the movie My Fair Lady, and the lead was brilliant! I was surrounded by colleagues and clients and it was a fun casual night.

Saturday morning was a well deserved 2 hour manicure/pedicure papering. My feet/toes and fingers are all dolled up nice with bright summer colours. It was really nasty weather out but I still had running around to do. $60 of skivies/socks for Zach, Emily and I. I actually threw out most of my old socks that were faded or gnarled. Start fresh.

My honey called and we caught up the past week. I really want to be there with him to explore the city and the surrounding amazing nature sites that he's finding. Perhaps the next time.

Then I tried to tackle the big wall in the dining room. After about 5 minutes, I realized that I need serious help with the wall. Elaine came in and confirmed that the person who put the paper up tacked it straight onto the putty on the drywall! No primer, nothing! It was pulling down the thin layer of putty and exposing the cardboard drywall!!! She's going to have John come over (who is a drywaller as luck would have it) and see if he'll help me fix it super fast/cheap before the landlord sees it.

I WAS going to go see Angels & Demons, but when I got there and saw the sea of cars and found out the movie was pretty much sold out, I turned around. I don't like crowds at movie theatres. let alone the majority i saw were groups of teens. And, don't want to be stuck in the front craning my neck up. no thanks. So, off to get groceries instead. Got to Price Chopper at 7:35. Doors close at 8. Speed shopping works best. no time to hum/haw.

When I got home, after putting away the groceries, I made a quick salad dinner and settled in to watch Inkheart. It is a bit slow, and I often found myself thinking...get on with it. I shut it off to watch it with less tired eyes in the am. Then Elaine called. She/Laura are in her backyard ....come on over! I grabbed the bottle of Relax (that I just HAPPENED to have all chilled in the fridge), and went out till after midnight. She has a new canopy tent for yard and 4 lawn chairs. Loved the no bug zone inside! She's offered me the picnic table for free but I don't know yet. Don't think I'll have room in the backyard.

Today I slept until 10:30!!! To be fair, I woke up several times since 8 but I was comfy and it was quiet and cool in the room, so zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. I needed it after all the headaches & meds I had to take this week to counter said headaches. I have put on a pot of coffee, and Country 95.3 is playing some faves upstairs. I'm going to replay an old Nancy Drew that I finished ages ago, then go wander Value Village and Goodwill. See if I can find dress pants for Zach for tomorrows ceremony.

I'm expecting the kids to be home around 5:30. Let the final week of school begin!
