Been a while since I last posted, and much has happened. Hard to believe how much stuff happens in a week, sometimes. Regardless - all the week 3 pictures are now up, as well as one new video so go check them out. I swear Samus has doubled her size since we got her, but a vet visit this afternoon will provide actual numbers.
Right now, she's sleeping on her back in her kennel. She still sleeps a lot, but that's fine by us. Unfortunately, starting last Monday night, she's had some weird gastrointestinal issues going on, which, although they don't seem to be getting worse, also aren't getting better. Very very loose poops, and she started having multiple poop accidents in our bedroom at night, which is not something she had problems with for the first two weeks... Anyway, I've moved up her vet visit, originally scheduled for Thursday to later today. It was supposed to be a well visit, for her next round of vaccinations and stuff... I wonder if they'll give her her shots anyway? I also want to talk with the vet about whether or not she can attend puppy kindergarten in her current state. Glen and I started the classes last week, but she is supposed to join us this week, and I don't want to expose the other puppies to anything. She's still eating and drinking fine, and is her usual self, but the intermittently loose and uncontrolled stool thing is a) disgusting b) frustrating and c) worrisome. (And smelly.) And it means that we're up again multiple times overnight, so are exhausted during the day.
Samus has gotten much better in her crate, to the point where we're not recording every session anymore. And she's really great in the car. We're still having leash-walking problems, though, and she's nippy and has started jumping. So, the basic puppy behaviors. She socializes nearly every day with a dog at the house of one of our neighbors. (Everybody on this street has a dog.) The black lab next door is doing much better with her, too. Actually playing with her instead of growling and lunging threateningly. We continue to try to expose her to new things - the big shop fan we had in the basement that we brought upstairs to cool it off up here, coming into the office with me, new people, new surfaces, etc.
Other things --
We had a very busy and social weekend. Julie S. came over for the entire day on Friday, with her bf (and Glen) joining us at night for dinner and Guitar Hero. Late Friday night, Glen's parents arrived. Saturday, we went to dim sum for brunch (only my 4th time at dim sum ever), then most of us took a nap in the afternoon! Saturday afternoon, we went to Russo's where we acquired a ridiculous amount of fruit and Samus learned about shopping carts. Saturday evening, we went to the
Brazilian barbecue place near us that Glen's been dying to visit for rodizio. (That's where they come around with huge swords of meat and other stuff freshly barbecued, and slice you whatever you want. This particular place offered sausage, kielbasa, beef, pork, lamb, chicken hearts, onions, garlic bread, and, the best thing (in my opinion!) - fresh roasted pineapple.) Then, we went to Whole Foods for gelatto. Sunday, Glen's parents left around noon, and Glen and I made a risotto and prepared veggies for a stirfry. Our friend
steve_dash_o who we haven't seen in years came by around 5:30, and we played
Fluxx and had dinner. Samus ran around with Marge (black lab) for a bit, and when we came inside, Glen and Steve cleaned up while I made cookies. Then Kristian arrived around 8:30, and we all played Guitar Hero until 10:30 when they left. So things have been rather non-stop.
We also went out and invested in another two
Sonos units and a controller, which should arrive Tuesday. We've suddenly been having problems with the unsupported wireless bridge solution we were using to connect them, so this will not only expand our zones, but allow us to have one unit fully wired (in the living room), which is the preferred configuration. And we're looking forward to having a controller for upstairs, which will mean we won't have to constantly remember to bring the one we have up and down all the time.
This week will be a bit unusual since not only is my usual dojo closed, but my alternate dojo is also closed for the holiday week. Hard to believe it's July...
