Last night, we got home rather late from Chris' office (6:30 at least) and made dinner ("macaroni and cheese" which actually turned into chicken alfredo with peppers and mushrooms). All three of us had had some sort of good news yesterday - Jason's about to be promoted (sort of) to a managerial position; Chris is going to be able to start doing some real research instead of just teaching; I had just gotten an email pretty much guaranteeing us a puppy from the litter I wrote about earlier and telling us we had "first dibs"!! So the mood at dinner (after my HOORAY PUPPIES dance) was certainly upbeat! Chris went to bed very shortly after dinner and I had settled in to read, but Jason offered to teach me backgammon, so I readily accepted and we played a couple games. I'm not sure I could teach anybody how to play, but at least I'm aware of the rules now!
Today, Chris and I have basically just been working on our laptops diagonal from each other at the dining room table all day. And IMing each other besides. /shakes head/ Craziness. We could whisper and hear each other. But we did also have a very enjoyable IM conversation with Duncan, who I've just talked through setting up
Gaim/Pidgin. And, in that, I've managed to work out how to set up a chatroom through Gaim, so it wasn't a total waste of time!
Had a dream about Duncan last night, actually. He was the proprietor of a wealthy estate with a swimming pool, and he was hosting a pool party where the attendees were mostly men of all ages, as well as myself and a ghost. I spent much of the dream being uncomfortable about the ghost and trying to figure out why Duncan would have agreed to be in league with it! Very odd. I have my own interpretation of what this all means, but not going to post that here, thanks.
Tonight for dinner, we're going to a new pub Chris and Jason wanted to try. Chris spoke to Jason over the phone earlier and joked that she wanted to videotape our evening for her new research project, "Cross-cultural Integration and Representation of Drunkenness" and that she's currently shopping the proposal around for funding. Ha. I have already explained that tonight's dinner and such WILL NOT be anywhere near as exciting for everyone as last year's trip's last night antics.
Tomorrow, I go home.
