It's a whopping 20o F outside, and snow is falling, but, inside, we are wrapped in calor tropical.
While listening to a delightful mix of Brazilian music, including, among others, Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Chico Buarque, Marisa Monte, Carlinhos Brown, Bebel Gilberto, O Rappa, and Gal Costa, I am cooking a typical Brazilian feast of feijoada (black bean and pork stew from Rio), couve (collard greens, sautéed in oil with garlic), arroz (rice), azas de frango (chicken wings), and oranges (well...not cooking the oranges), and drinking Pilão, o Cafe Forte do Brasil, or Chimarrão (yerba mate).
My dominican art teacher friend is coming to sample this wonderful Brazilian cuisine, shortly.
Were I a more skillful cook, I would make feijão tropeiro, corações, polenta or mandioca to really round out the Brazilian fair.
