Inception AU where Eames is the pianist of a jazz band in a swanky hotel and Arthur is the business man from out of town.
AND THEN THERE'S SEX.
Possibly the repeated kind, with Arthur finding all kinds of excuses to be sent back to Eames neck of the woods. <3

I would read that fic. Repeatedly. And with much enthusiasm.

And Arthur likes indie bands and is all "jazz, what, elevator music," and then Eames winks at him and it goes straight to Arthur's pants and Arthur glares at Eames furiously and frowns his sternest of frowns because scruffy pushing-middle-age jazz pianist with a tux that doesn't fit him, he should be hilarious, and instead Arthur is so into him and can't stop staring at his fingers on the keys and he doesn't realize he's running his tongue over suddenly-dry lips until Eames looks up again and flashes this blazingly bright smile at him and Arthur actually grinds his teeth and gives up and has to get up and leave IMMEDIATELY, except AS IT TURNS OUT that's when the song ends, and Eames mutters a word to the bassist who whispers to the singer, and so the singer doo-wops a solo with the bassist improvising-accompanying and everyone is very impressed, and of course Eames is free to disappear backstage for that number, except by "backstage" we mean "exactly wherever Arthur's

Eames would smile and Arthur would mean to brush past but can't actually because, well, that smile should be illegal and Eames is right there much too close and not on a stage behind a piano and fair enough, who wouldn't need time to rally, really? So it's not Arthur's fault that he just stands there possibly with blown pupils and a lip he's still biting down on, and Eames just moseys right on up into his personal space and casually lifts a knee to Arthur's groin, but that's when Arthur wakes up and this is so stupid, and so he ever-so-condescendingly lightfoots out so he's free from Eames' leg and also, before heading off, takes a moment to tap his own knee at Eames.

Except he never actually succeeds at heading off because Eames just reacts to it and it's so shameless and honest and he arches his head back and that jaw and Arthur's superego just completely blacks out and by the time it rallies Arthur is in no position to pretend he's not interested

And then that time, Arthur goes to the same hotel OBVIOUSLY, but the whole while he's like "this is so stupid, this is so stupid, he's not going to remember you, he's not going to remember you, he's probably not even here anymore, stop expecting things, stop it".

And of course Eames is right there and they lock eyes the instant Arthur steps into the room and before he even has time to sit down somewhere Eames is whispering to the bassist again and Arthur spins right around and heads out and goes to the same spot as last time and THERE EAMES IS and he actually looks a bit shy this time and Arthur's like "SO." and Eames starts to actually smolder at him, and this time afterwards Eames is like "wait" and gives him a Best Of Duke Ellington compilation CD and is like "now you have to return it, see?" and Arthur has a million questions, like why a British guy sailed over the ocean to become a jazz pianist, and Eames is like "if you don't know after listening to the CD, ask ~next time~" and Arthur is like "subtle, pianist man, subtle" and

I WOULD READ ABOUT HOW THEY FALL IN LOVE AND HOW ARTHUR JUST BLOODY GETS HIMSELF STATIONED THERE AND THEY GET A KITTEN AND HAVE HORRIBLY LOUD SEX AND PISS OFF THE NEIGHBORS BUT THE NEIGHBORS CAN'T REALLY STAY MAD BECAUSE THEY'RE JUST SO *CUTE* AND IMPOSSIBLY IN LOVE AND HOW CAN YOU BE MAD AT THAT?!

AND THEN Arthur goes home, and on the plane he turns the CD case over in his hands, absently meditating on Duke's face, and then stops himself and is like "Whoa, whoa, whoa, Arthur. You are in too deep, there is no way he meant it, you're probs never going to see him again, or fine, but anyway not for months, all right? Back down, pleaseExcept here's the thing, Arthur's twenty-eight and he's never had a proper relationship since that thing with Al back in college, and no one at the office knows he's gay and he hasn't had action in god knows how long, and so yes, yes, it's stupid and dangerous to get himself into this guy's pants because Eames looks so much as if he means it, too, as if he's into Arthur back, as if this isn't just a one-off, well, two-off thing and for all Arthur knows Eames is one of those open-relationship types who has a boyfriend or a girlfriend back home or, worse, is just a sort of slutty performer type who does this with everybody who catches his eye. And then Kingsley texts him with something about office brunch on Saturday, and Arthur texts back "only if u pick me up" because he and Kingsley have a thing going, and he starts drafting him some ideas and they're pinging back and forth for a while, and abruptly things go silent because the CD playlist's done, and Arthur's stuck with silence and realizes to his own astonishment that he'd acclimated to the sound
