No Ireland for me this summer :-(
Obviously, I'm disappointed. They couldn't get extra funding for me to go to Ireland. But I got possibly the nicest, most complimentary rejection ever. The director (? I think) of the program said she's not even getting anyone in her lab (which is where I would have been); she called my application "particularly strong" and recommended that I submit an application for a research award that generally goes to PhD students. Wow. I am just... blown away. The warm happy feelings that causes almost drown out the disappointment.
