The new job...

So here I am. Sitting in my new ‘office space’ as I like to call it. In my new place of work. Yes, another government agency. But still all under the same government department (HHS). Still a government employee. But now I’m not stuck in the same position with the same basic salary. I’m in a new position, with a new title, with more responsibilities, and lots more room to grow. They’ve already designated more tasks for me to handle here than I ever did over at the old place.

I like my desk. I will have to post pictures. So far everyone is quite nice. It’s pretty quiet. Laid back. So far so good. Only time will tell. But, my 1st day was good. I had a really good day. Something I haven’t had in a long time.

So my first week. Let’s go through it. My 1st day, I has HHS (Dept of Health & Human Services) induction/orientation. Well, I’m already a part of HHS, so it was silly for me to attend this. So after I cleared it up with one of the ladies at the orientation & after signing whatever affidavit, she let me go. So I came to my new office, where they weren’t exactly ready for me, and got ‘settled’ in. It was a day of nothingness really. I spent time setting up my computer, which is actually a laptop, so I’ll be able to eventually take it home! And getting my settings to my likings, etc.

Today is a pretty chill day here it seems. Lots of people work from home, so there’s not a lot of activity. As is it, a lot of people have meetings & are in & out of their offices all day. This setting honestly reminds me of my sister’s office setting. I’m so used to working in a laboratory setting, here it’s not like that at all. It’s all offices, and people are wearing nice clothes, makes me want to do the same. So I’ll definitely be doing some shopping as I get my bills more situated.

Oh, the other thing. The mileage from home. From home to my previous office it was like 25 miles. From home to my current location its about 30 miles. Honestly, the commute hasn’t been too too bad. I feel like it’s almost the same even. Plus, I got to keep my work hours, which is really convenient.

Well, I am currently listening to the conversation of the guy in the cubicle next to mine. He has some visitors, I think they're IT or something. But their conversation is hilarious. They're talking about dating older women while in their 20s.
