Okay, so I haven't updated in a while now. I guess I've just been busy with school. From now on, I will update more often (I think). Anyway, I wrote some poems I'll be posting and some fanfics.
I didn't have time to do anything really exciting but I did go see the new Indiana Jones movie last week. Nineteen years after The Last Crusade Indiana Jones makes his comeback and I have to say: he looks pretty good doing it. (So what if I have a weak spot for Harrison Ford?)
I have to admit, I liked it, but it wasn’t as good as I thought it would be. It was an entertaining movie with some great action sequences, but the storyline kind of weirded me out. It’s about this pointy-headed chrystal skull that comes from out-space. It has some kind of super-powers. It’s not very clear what they are. It’s a magnet, it makes you control peoples minds, it makes anyone go crazy when they look at it (except Indiana Jones himself) but most of all: it’s ugly as hell.
The acting was great. I loved seeing Harrison Ford again (can’t believe he’s 65!) and Cate Blanchett was very convincing as evil Stalin-babe Irina Spalko. The Ukrainian accent was a little heavy but it worked for me. Shia LaBeouf gave a good performance as The Sidekick. So did his hair. And I guess we all saw it coming (SPOILER! Not really...) Mutt Williams is actually Indy’s son. Where else did he get his fabulous hair?
But what bothered me the most was the special effects. It was a little over the top. So over the top it made me laugh out loud in the theatre. I can live with killer ants that eat a living body within seconds, because that’s awesome. Even though it didn’t look very real. But climbing out of a refrigerator in one piece after a nuclear explosion? Nyet. Not very realistic. And then Shia LaBeouf and about a million monkeys where swinging on vines in the jungle... Really? Who comes up with this stuff?
So I did like the movie and there where some funny moments (intentional or not), but it’s not the great blockbuster I expected from Stephen Spielberg. I haven’t decided if I’ll buy it on DVD, but I’ve got time.
So this was supposed to be a small post, but it turned out to be a review for the new Indiana Jones movie. I don't know how it happened.
indiana jones,
