52 Reasons Why You’re My Best Friend
It’s my best friend’s birthday in a couple of weeks and I made a gift for her. I made her a mix-cd like I do every year (it’s kind of become tradition) but I wanted to do something special this year instead of just buying something. So I made her something. I found a great idea for a gift on the internet and it turned out really good for me, so I thought I’d share it. You don’t have to be very artistic or handy to make it (read on clumsy people!) but you do need some (not much) patience.
What you need is a deck of cards (52 cards), some glue, a hole puncher and 2 binder rings.
You also need to make up 52 reasons why he/she is your best friend. I printed them out and then glued them to the cards, but if you have a nice handwriting, you can write them yourself. I got some of my inspiration from this book: 500 Reasons Why You're My Best Friend by Lorraine Bodger. Here are some of the lines I used:
- I can tell you anything and you won't be shocked.
- When I'm really down you cry with me. I'm not embarrassed to cry in front of you.
- If I was lost, you’d find me.
- You’d give me your last piece of chocolate.
- We have inside jokes.
- You bring your problems to me and let me help you solve them.
- You make room for me in your life, even when your life is busy.
- You love to laugh. You laugh at my jokes even if they’re stupid.
- Secrets are secrets and we'd never reveal each other's.
- You're better than a sister: No sibling rivalry, but family all the same.
- I don't have to watch what I say when we're talking the way I do when I'm talking with certain other people. And you know who I mean.
- I would tattoo all over my body. I would rob a bank and break you out of prison if you where framed for murder. And you’d do the same for me. Right? (Shout-out to Prison Break: we both love that show!)
- We don't look alike. We don't sound alike. But we think alike about all the important things and that's what counts.
- The good. The bad. The ugly. We've been through them all and we're still friends.
- You always understand.
I also decorated some of the cards with glitter, bows, lace... You can decide for yourself how far you want to take the decorating.
For every card you make, you punch holes in the sides of the cards and hold them together with binder rings (1 inch size).
It should look something like this (pictures are not mine, just borrowed):

Well, I haven't given it to her yet, but I'm pretty sure she'll love it. Took me a lot of work. She's so lucky to have me.
