Those of you whom have been paying attention to the news lately have probably heard much about the recent remarks Don Imus made on his radio show and the subsequent punishment of a 2-week suspension of his radio show and the termination of his TV simulcast on MSNBC (partners for all of the 11 years of the networks existence). Well, as a fan of Don Imus, and knowing the truly good man he is, I am as outraged as all of the pro-black politicians. But I'm not outraged at Imus like they are. Quite the contrary. I'm outraged at the general population and medias reaction. He said two words in a typical Don Imus, dry joking fashion.. and the entire countries tightly secured dick-up-their-ass plunged miles deeper.
I'm not going to go too much more in depth as I'm sure most of you don't care... and I am tired (and tired of this). Now, I'm not defending what he did, and I do agree with a suspension. However, every single black person I've seen talk about the situation wants him completely terminated. This clearly shows their ignorance for who he is and what he does. He owns a ranch specifically for children with cancer, and he constantly leads fund raising events for the terminally ill (of all races, mind you). He has created tens of millions of dollars to help these unfortunate victims of sickness. But one little rant about the Rutger's Women's basketball team being "nappy-headed hos" (which I lmao at everytime I hear it) and the entire african-american population thinks he should be terminated. I will not go into the insane ammount of hypocricy involed with that. Let's just say if a black radio talk show host said something about a predominantly white team being cracker-jack honkies, nobody would huff or puff about it. Hell, you wouldn't even hear about it.
I'm going to stop myself before I go way too far into this. I support Don Imus, and though he made a big mistake and deserves punishment for his insensitive remark, that does not warrant the floods of people acting like we've gone to war. Oh, right, they care more about Don Imus talking about the Rutgers Women's team. Sorry. Didn't have my priorities right.
I hope they keep him on air so I can at least listen online. It's a great way to learn about politics without being bored out fo your head. He's on air as we speak, and hopefully after his suspension, things will stay that way. Good luck, Don.
