New rule: +4 items are now only to be DM granted. Guess what, my character has 2 rings +4 int, a belt of agility +4 and boots of striding +4. I've been running around with them for at least 300 hours and now they need to be taken away.
Before November last year +4 items were forbidden. Then I heard from another player that he could keep his ring +4. One week later I find my own. So instead of playing dumb and wearing the thing (ignorance being no excuse) I asked whether it was ok. Actually I asked two DMs. At that time I got the same answer from both DMs: we're revising the rules, because epic levels got added (hotu), so keep it.
Now apparently one of those DMs also voted or proposed that +4 items are to be DM given only. Great... so one god gives all the elves cool bows and deals out raise dead scrolls like there's no tomorrow, while all others get nothing, nada, rien, niks, nihil, etc. Oh and perhaps I ought to mention that the DM who plays the elven god gives raise dead scrolls to elven PCs who travel with one of his characters. I witnessed it once myself. Him as a PC and another player go to the land of quicklings (ultra fast and bad halflings; I'm 22nd level and still scared of them). They both die. DM as a player logs out and Aros (god of the elves)logs in. Clears the quicklings and restores the other character and gives her scrolls. Logs back out, logs in as dead player character and gets raised.
Someone said to me: well the DMs should be given a break, as they use a lot of their time to provide fun for us. Well damn me, but I should have played an elf!!
