"Like the old days, but better..."

It was really alot like the old days.  In just two days, Me, Shane and Greg had gotten the newest version of Madden and were now into the third week of the franchise.  Cracking on each other, talking smack and laughing our asses off.  I guess I never noticed how much I had missed this ritual.  It made us a little sad that neither Dusty nor Casey were around to play anymore, but we still have those stories.

For the record, we played the old francise for five seasons starting from the time when Shane, Dusty, Casey and I all lived in the house on Forney after I graduated from JSU.  It was kinda a theme that I closely associate with one of the happiest times of my life.  It's pretty fitting it should come back now.

I think Greg really needs this.  He was all about to marry Jennifer when she took his feet out from under him and got cold feet.  Then she just broke ties all together.  Since then, he moved back to the area but he has never been the same as he was before he started dating Jennifer.  Beyond work he doesn't seem to have anything beyond me and Shane.  Over the past several weeks, there are so many countless times that I get out of work from the S O and I have missed calls and/or messages.  I feel bad because I can't always hang with him.  I try to spread myself out with people so much as it is lately.  I don't ever remember being this popular and I still feel like I'm just not getting enough time with this person or that person.  Especially Rosco.  I'd kill to have more weekends where I could just drive up to Hville and hang out.  I'd also really like time to go see Aaron in Atlanta again.  And there's still that matter of flying up to Boston to see Justin.

Not that I'm complaining.  I love where I'm at now, and I do wanna do more of this hanging out with the guys like I did in the old days.  I laugh so much when we hang out like this.  At work I get to be the goofy, funny one striving to make people not take the job so seriously.  It's nice to be with a couple other people that are just rattling off shit.  I think the best line of the night went to Shane when one of the players got knocked out of the game and (after a short line of jokes) he said, "Hey, put me back in coach!  I've got the star and the fast music is playing!"  I've never met anyone with a better timing or delivery.  I still meet new and comical people, but it's nothing like it is with those college buddies, you know?

At any rate, it's now just past 7 a.m. and one of my three days off is now no more.  I should probably collapse now.
