A needed distraction

Hehehehe

Two of our Network Development Directors just accosted me near my desk. Apparently, someone has been vandalizing desks (cutely, not maliciously) and I was Suspect #1. About 30 minutes ago, Ed returned to his desk to find three highlighters positioned on his keyboard, a pair of silver scissors laying across the top of his Whataburger cup, a stapler over his number pad, and tape dispenser propped up on the left edge of his keyboard, and a mechanical pencil balanced straight upright between the keys. Kelly was nearby and he asked her about it... turns out something similar was done in her office just this morning.

Together they immediately jumped to the most obvious, logical, reasonable, and probable conclusion: Liz Did It.

Now, I'll grant you that if I didn't know better (and I do), then I'd be my own first suspect as well. In fact, I wish I had thought of it. After much fast talking and adamant denial, I convinced them that there MIGHT be other nearly-as-likely suspects in the building. So while they still have me at the top of the list, at least they were willing to consider other possibilities. Enjoying the Inspector Clueso quality to it, I pointed my finger at the second most notorious office prankster: Kevin. Ed was skeptical, which tickles me to no end. "Kevin??? The quiet, reserved one??????" LOL Yeah, RIGHT!

Kevin had been on a conference call for about 30 minutes during the time that the prank occurred, so he has an alibi. Next suspect: Sherri, already gone for the day. Next: Wendy, already gone for the day. Next: Suzann - honestly ignorant and, like me, WISHING she'd done it! Next: Gigi - even more honestly ignorant than Suzann. Next: Lynn, legitimately busy, also would have rolled in a box of files and put them on his chair (she's a little less subtle). Also on the list: Shanon, Brad, Luis, and Sherteen.

Summary: Too many pranksters, not enough alibis.

Status: Case close, unsolved.
